Does Conor deserve an immediate rematch with Khabib? Or should a boxing Match with Khabib and Floyd be made. Let me know your thoughts and why in the comments.
Now that some of the post UFC 229 buzz has faded, more MMA news seems to be reflecting the echos of a voice of reason and bolstering the idea that Tony Ferguson is the one who should get the fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov. I feared that the axiom “if it makes dollars, it makes sense” would be at play here and that Conor McGregor would surely get the immediate rematch. At this point, there seems to be hope that sanity will prevail, Tony will get the fight with Khabib, and Khabib will not fight Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match.
Regarding a potential match with Floyd, I didn’t think that Khabib was even serious when he teased the idea of the two undefeated fighters clashing in a boxing match. With that being said, the amount of chatter about this potential fight–––and Floyd’s own comments–––seemed to suggest that it was a real possibility. I am hoping that sanity prevails and this chatter is snuffed out fast. Khabib Nurmagomedov is not known as a standup fighter and because he dropped Conor in the second round of their fight, does not change the reality: Khabib is a grappler, and the idea of a boxing match vs. Floyd is just plain silly. Let’s hope that the voices of reason get louder.
